By the time the curtain fell, the attackers had full access to Saayman’s npm credentials.
With those credentials, they published malicious Axios versions that quietly installed a remote‑access trojan on any system that downloaded them. For a brief but dangerous window, the global software supply chain was exposed, not because a system failed, but because a person was deceived.
